Algebra I is a high school level math course that will allow for four years of college preparatory mathematics courses in high school. This is a rigorous course designed to attract and keep students in mathematics. This course is NOT meant to get Algebra I “out of the way.” This course is the foundation for high school mathematics courses and mastery of the lessons taught is expected. Students will also be held responsible for 8th grade math material, and will take the PARCC Assessments at the end of the year for both 8th grade and Algebra I.
*If the student is not showing successful progress prior to the end of the first semester, it is suggested that the student move into an appropriate level course to strengthen their mathematical skills and then take Algebra the following year. Changing the schedule does not guarantee the exact same teacher per course.
